Nursery

Our nursery is for children under four years old. We work to make it a safe and caring environment for your children.

For children in the nursery, please bring

  • A labeled diaper bag
  • Sufficient amount of diapers (disposable)
  • Change of clothes
  • Bottle or sippy cup (labeled)
  • Pacifier and keeper if your child uses one
  • List of instructions if necessary

The nursery hostess will greet you and give you a tag with a pager number so that the nursery can alert you if necessary.

To help prevent problems with allergies, please do not bring a snack for your child unless you plan to come and give it to him or her. The nursery will often provide a small snack during the morning worship service.

Nursing mothers can use a private nursing room as needed. The hostess can provide more information.

Only workers and children are permitted in the nursery.

The Praise Factory

As a church we have a duty to help parents train their children to know and love God, and to train children directly as well. During the morning sermon we provide a children's study using The Praise Factory Curriculum. This Bible study is designed to disciple children by teaching them foundational truths and habits of worship, and to disciple parents by giving them an opportunity to focus their attention on the preaching of the Word.

Instructions:
If your children will participate, look for the leaders by the side door during the offering.

Q & A:

  • Who can participate?
Children between about 3 and about 8. If you're not sure whether your children should come, please ask an elder.
  • When does this happen?
During the sermon. Children will be with their parents for the songs and any ordinances.
  • Where are you meeting?
In the downstairs classroom where 4-to-7-year-old Sunday School class meets.
  • What are you teaching?
We will be use the second half of the Praise Factory curriculum we use in children's Sunday School. The curriculum is designed to cover both a Sunday School and a morning service. Contents include songs, catechism, Bible memory, and a lesson. For more information, please visit https://www.praisefactory.org/.
  • Who is teaching?
The elders are directly responsible for the teaching.
  • How do I get my kids after the service?
The leaders will bring the children back to the service for the closing songs (and ordinances).
  • Do my kids have to go?
No. Whether you send your children is entirely up to you. We hope that kids will want to go, and we will work hard to make it good for them. But some kids might not want to, and some parents may prefer that their children remain with them. Both of these are perfectly fine.
  • Do you need volunteers?
Not at the moment. If you would like to help serve our children, please consider helping in Sunday School or the nursery. For more information, please speak to an elder or a deacon.

If you have more questions, please contact the elders (elders@jpbc.org).

Training (Fellowship Hall)

We try to be as family-friendly as possible and encourage families to worship together whenever possible. We do have a Training area in the fellowship hall that is for families with small children who might not be able to sit through the entire service. There is a live video feed of the service and parents may use it to train their children to participate in the service without causing distractions.
