Our mission

Glorify God, evangelize, disciple

We exist to glorify God by being and making faithful disciples of Jesus Christ

To that end we are especially committed to pursuing the ministry priorities below. This is not what we claim to have achieved but what we are striving for. In fact we fall far short in many ways, but we praise God for his continued faithfulness and grace.

   Christ-centered ministry

   We want Christ and him crucified at the heart of everything we do. The gospel is the grand theme of all Scripture, and Christians need to keep hearing it in order to grow.

   Expositional preaching

   Our goal is to preach God's Word and not our own ideas. Starting with a passage rather than a topic keeps us preaching the whole counsel of God, and helps the congregation learn to read the Bible for themselves.

   Sound doctrine

   Our greatest treasure is knowing God, so we teach systematically what he has revealed about himself. We aim for soundness: not going beyond what is written, and testing everything by Scripture.

   Biblical worship

   We set aside our preferences and worship as God's Word prescribes: singing the Word, praying it, reading it, preaching it, and practicing it in the ordinances. The congregation's voice is the primary instrument.

   Devoted prayer

   We want our dependence on God to be tangible in our gatherings and our private lives, doing the hard work of intercession and learning to treasure prayer as communion with Christ.

   Loving character

   Character must reflect the holiness, humility and love of Christ. We do not want head-knowledge without heart-change, so we strive to walk in love; the distinguishing mark of Christ's disciples.

   Meaningful membership

   Membership is tied to baptism and the Lord's Supper. It is a real responsibility: to meet together regularly, care for one another, and pursue the church's mission together.

   Spiritual unity

   Our union with Christ unites us to one another, so the more varied our backgrounds the more God's glory is displayed. We seek unity without uniformity, and guard freedom of conscience where Scripture does not bind it.

   Servant leadership

   The church is led by a plurality of elders who shepherd by example of humble service. We hope this shapes the culture of the whole church, and we prioritize training future leaders.

    Equipping-oriented discipleship

    Jesus calls every follower to help others follow him. We want every member to learn to disciple others and use their gifts for the good of the body.

    Community evangelism

    We want to be an outward-looking church that engages its neighbours rather than waiting for the lost to come to us. God alone changes hearts; every Christian shares the gospel.

    Global missions

    We pray, give and send so the gospel spreads worldwide, and we want every member to understand their part: to go down into the well, or hold the rope for those who do.

    Expectant hope

    Christ is coming back and we must be ready. We cultivate hopeful yearning for his return, which helps us hold the world loosely and pray fervently.
