Exploring Exodus

  • Jefferson Park Baptist Church 2505 Jefferson Park Avenue Charlottesville, VA, 22903 United States (map)

ABOUT:

The goal of this conference is to equip believers on how to read, interpret, and teach God’s Word. This year we will be focusing on the book of Exodus in order to explore methods for reading historical narrative. Over half the Bible is written as historical narrative, including the gospels of Jesus Christ. Exodus is a great place to introduce tools we can add to our interpretive toolbox. We will provide workshops so participants learn how to practice interpretation together.

Exodus is one of the most important books of the Bible because of its place in the Pentateuch, it contains the defining salvation event for Israel, and it includes Israel’s receiving the law from God as they become his Holy Nation. We will teach or workshop many of the most significant passages such as Moses’ calling, the Passover, the Giving of the Ten Commandments, and the Golden Calf.

SPEAKERS: Keith Goad and Mark Collins

COST: $25 (Scholarships will be available. We do not want finances to keep anyone from attending).

CHILDCARE: Not offered at this point, but if enough families express interest, we hope to offer childcare for a reasonable additional cost; email Abigail at administrator@jpbc.org by Feb 20th if interested.

VOLUNTEERS: We would like to have meals and childcare provided by church members. If you are interested in helping with the conference, please contact Abigail at administrator@jpbc.org.
